Artists stay for free at Camelot Castle Hotel

Camelot Castle has become one of the most sought after holiday destinations in Britain. Located where Lord Alfred Tennyson wrote “Idylls of the King”, where Elgar composed his second symphony and Turner painted.
Camelot Castle looks out over the majestic Tintagel island and the Atlantic. It commands a view that has been known to inspire heathens to prayer.

The hotel has always been a favourite of artists and the guest book reads like a Who’s Who of the creative minds of the last century. Theories as to why this is the case and why artists have felt compelled to visit this location are as diverse and interesting as the mythology that surrounds the Castle itself. What is not in doubt is the extraordinary benefit and inspiration that artists have experienced as a result of arriving there.

Artist in Residence Program

Today any artist who feels that their creativity or inspiration would benefit from staying at Camelot Castle is eligible to apply for their 'Artist in Residence Program'. Indeed, in the last 14 months, Camelot Castle has activated and helped over 350 artists from around the world who have benefited from this program.

The program runs at the discretion of the owners of Camelot (John Mappin and Ted Stourton), and is one of the most exciting, fresh and innovative ideas to influence the creative community for many years.

“It is very easy to take the creativity of artists for granted. Our own view is that any effort in the direction of helping artists is repaid one thousand times over, so we continue to help and welcome artists to stay as part of the Artists in Residence Program as often as we can.”

About Ted Stourton

If the pen is mightier than the sword, and a picture paints a thousand words: What would happen if a painter uses his brush to communicate images of hope and inspiration? That was the question that one rising British artist asked himself while taking in the extraordinary beauty of a sea landscape one afternoon a few years ago.

The Stourton collection at Camelot is one of the largest, most beautiful, varied and numerous collections of an artist's work, anywhere in the world.

In the last fourteen months alone, over 1,950 original works and paintings by Stourton have found their way into collectors' hands across all parts of the world and demand for his work is growing exponentially.

Currently, a permanent exhibition of nearly 1000 original paintings by Stourton can be seen at Camelot Castle where the artist currently has his studios and works.

A small sample of his work can be seen in the Artist Gallery.

Ted Stourton's first ever sold painting reveals itself

Dear Friends of Camelot,

Something wonderful happened at Camelot Castle today. A young lady arrived here, with her husband, on honeymoon it turned out that she is friends with the person who bought the first ever Ted Stourton painting - (We have been wondering for years where this particular painting is and now we know!).

Ted has now sold over 8500 original fine art paintings since that time.

This week Ted's work has been selected to represent Britain's contemporary artists in a new publication and we were delighted to discover that the painting being used for that purpose is one that has been owned for some months by a local of Tintagel.

It is a stunning piece and it does not surprise us at all that this is the one that was selected. The family tells us it is not for sale!!! :)

So today reminded us of the journey and the fun that we have had along the road with you all, our Friends of Camelot and our Noble Ambassadors, you have all helped.

Thank you all for making this easily the best year that Camelot Castle and Ted Stourton has ever had.

A review of Camelot Castle Hotel, Tintagel

"We stayed in a Moorside view room which cost £39 per night, the cheapest available, and were amazed at the size and the fact that we actually had a superb view of the sea and the helipad where we witnessed a friend fly in for a cuppa!

Beautiful scenery and the village is lovely. The staff are so friendly and helpful and dress very smart. The complimentary drink on arrival went down very nicely, it's so refreshing to get something for nothing - very rare these days. John and Ted (the owners) were very welcoming and made a point of saying hello to their guests and speaking to everyone personally.

We will be talking about our stay for a long time to come and would definitely go back and recommend everyone else to go too. Such a unique place to stay."

Great News!!! For Ted Stourton Fine Art Collectors

Dear Friends of Ted and Collectors of Ted Stourton Fine Art,

Those of you who own an original Stourton may be very delighted to hear this news.

We owe ALL of Ted Stourton's great friends and supporters around the world a wonderful thank you for all your continued support and encouragement.

For this week with the publication of a new book Ted Stourton was again internationally recognised as one of the important Contemporary Artists of this generation.

Ted's work was selected not just from British Artists but from from many international artists around the world to represent International Contemporary Art worldwide and two Ted Stourton paintings are now featured in the new publication.

"INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS."

We are particularly delighted that Ted's picture of "Tintagel Island" was one of the pictures that the editors and panel chose for the book.

The Publisher of this fabulous beautiful new book who herself, with its publication, has set a new standard in the art world had this to say in the book's preface:

"Art is something we have always considered essential in life; not only does it offer a new perspective in the way we view things, but it also makes life prettier and more bearable. It is a unique form of expression and communication - beyond and above words - it gives people the chance to understand different cultures and ideas.

Therefore, it deserves our outmost respect and undivided attention."
Eve Lemonidou, Curator

You can see the new book at Camelot Castle now or you can get you own copy here.....

http://www.amazon.com/International-Contemporary-Artists-vol-I/dp/9609322980/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1287764989&sr=1-1#productPromotions

Anyway I am sure that you will be as delighted as we are that Ted Stourton's work and extraordinary creative ability has again be recognised in this way.

There has never been any doubt in our mind that Ted Stourton is indeed one of the finest artists of his generation......

But today it is YOU Ted's collectors and friends that deserve many many congratulations for having have had the foresight and recognition of beauty to see this too.

All our love,

John, Irina and all of your friends at Camelot.
